Things are about to change…

I’ve had enough.

Enough of maintaining four websites, uploading comics to six different places and selling next to nothing. My first inclination was to end everything but the Elderberries and consider myself lucky to still have a cartooning job.

Fortunately, cooler heads have prevailed. There will be cuts, but not to any strips. We’re scaling back and getting rid of inventory… and some websites.

Here’s the current 411:

If I could get someone like that on my construction crew, I wouldn’t even let the language barrier become an issue.

Is it scary that I can get the gist of what he’s saying?

Chuck is so lucky that English showed up. He’d still be creating a disaster area otherwise.

“face eggs” - never heard that one before. In the context I guess it means eyes?

Cockney is its own language, believe me.

Since the story’s tracking Chuck’s “english” adventure, does that imply that D & G successfully escaped BL? So successfully that Corey didn’t even notice them leave?

They were on their way out of town in his car when they noticed it had an empty back seat, and so…….

As a Londoner, I’ve spent endless hours of fun and amusement trying to work out exactly which dialect of Britspeak “English” is supposed to be using (or rather, mangling)!

Cockney is there (if it even exists any more…), although I believe “face eggs” is a Pandolph original. There’s some Northern usage too, and from the frequent occurrence of “Oy” in English’s utterances I suspect some Yiddischer influence as well…

Truth is, it’s Corey’s own idea of what would happen if two completely different cultures (British and US Southern good ol’ boy) were to collide and emerge in a dialect. Total linguistic destruction!

But on an unrelated note, I want to know what has happened to D+G as well…

    Cheers me dears

I too understand what English is saying, mostly. Must have been here too long….

Welcome to town, Corey! I grew up on Chebeague Island, so know you are in for a bit of transition, but you will be fine! Keep up the great baconerific work!

Those expressions are hilarious. And if they’re not real linguistic finds and you’re making them up, they are also bril, bril, brilliant.
